DDA reminds me of Kintsugi, which is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the broken pieces with powered gold. DDA takes those of us who feel broken due to our life experiences, the system, and from dual diagnosis and fills those fractures with unconditional love, lifetime acceptance, and a place to call home. This provides the opportunity for all those embraced by DDA to have a second chance at life that may have never been thought possible. With the gold in place, we come back more resilient and more beautiful than ever before. Recovery is a life-long process, and we may break again but DDA is there, gold powder in hand, and ready to mend those pieces without hesitation or judgment. Once in DDA, always in DDA. – Sarah Andrews
